Miep Gies - July 16, 1943

Today, Mr. Frank told me that a burglar broke into the warehouse downstairs. When Peter made one of his usual trips downstairs, he found that the warehouse door and the street door was slightly opened.

I was afraid that Mr. Frank and the others were in big trouble because police officers and detectives will be investigating the warehouse.
Mr. Koophius told us that the buglars just took two cashboxes containing forty florins, postal orders, checkbooks and all the coupons for 150 kilos of sugar. We have to be so careful now that this burglary has occured.
